I designed, and illustrated a bespoke neighborhood guide map for the legendary Hotel Chelsea, an iconic New York institution rich in history and cultural significance. This walkable map celebrates the timeless legacy of the hotel while curating a collection of the area’s most distinguished eateries, shops, and museums—carefully selected to reflect the tastes and preferences of the hotel’s esteemed clientele.

Designed to be a cherished keepsake, the map features intricate hand-inked illustrations, executed in a delicate etching style, using fine-tipped pen to capture the essence of each location. The handwritten font adds a personal touch, enhancing the artisanal feel of the design. Drawing inspiration from vintage maps, I sought to evoke the rich history of New York City and the storied past of Hotel Chelsea, whose guests have included some of the most influential figures in the arts and culture since its opening in 1884.

The design integrates a soft pastel color palette, my signature style, to juxtapose the hotel’s historic past with a contemporary, refined sensibility. This map is more than just a guide; it’s a celebration of the hotel’s enduring legacy, offering guests a glimpse into the vibrant neighborhoods and iconic places frequented by the artists, musicians, and writers who have shaped the cultural fabric of New York. With each detail, I aimed to honor the history of the Chelsea Hotel while providing a timeless memento for guests to treasure long after their stay.
